Heh, it took a little while for the date of the New Haven alleycat to register... I guess they really like to plan ahead?

The best part is their website led me to a site for a conceptual-bikeshop in the area (conceptual in the sense that they plan to be a bikeshop, but don't seem to have a bikeshop currently)... it very confusing.

Haha! Yep, we like to get things started pretty early. This event usually blows up pretty big, so we like to have all our ducks in a row, so to speak. Being situated between NYC and Boston, with Philly and Baltimore within driving distance, you've got to set your dates quick, so you don't get overlap on the major events. The first year we held Grand Theft Velo, NYC had their Bridge Battle the same day.

As for the bike "shop" - that's OPENbicycle (www.openbicycle.com). They're a great crew from Boston who will be building a shop -- crew first, then shop as opposed to shop then crew. Check the links along the right border of our page for a bunch of functioning shops in the area.

Cheers from the States!

I kinda figured out the deal with OPEN, although I'm a little confused as to what's going to be happening there (in Harvard Square of all places).

I'll be honest, the whole thing seems a little "New York" to me... and that isn't a compliment. Still... I wish them the best and hope they don't hurt Broadway's business. Lord knows Harvard students are too stupid to find their way beyond the square anyway.
